Long term memory loss

Long term memories last for years or even decades. Short term memories move into long term memories through long term potentiation, which is the process of strengtening the connections between existing neurons.Either traumatic brain injury or neorodegenerative disease causes serious loss of long term memory.

Traumatic brain injury: When some parts of the brain have been damaged, the ability to remember tastes, smells, appearances, or sounds might be affected, depending on what part of it has been affected. If the brain swells because of a head injury, brain’s ability to process incoming information lessens. Moreover, retrieving the information when needed might be difficult, even if the incoming information is processed. You suffer from retrograde amnesia, When you suffer from traumatic injury to the head and forget where you had been or what you had been doing for a few days before the accident.

Neurodegenerative Disease: the most common neorodegenerative diseases are Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Huntington’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease. These diseases cause memory loss.None of these conditions act specifically on memory, but memory deterioration is a casualty of general cognitive decline.

Short term memory loss

short term memory loss is scientifically called anterograde amnesia. In this case of amnesia, ?nformation stays in the short term memory and is not transferred to long term memory. If a person’s attention is shifted, he cannot remember events which have just broken out.different kinds of memory are affected differently.for example a person cannot remember the events which have just happened but can remember physical skills.

The cause of the short term memory loss is the damage to the hippocampus, fornix or mamilliary bodies.not only damage to this parts of the brain, but also to the basal forabrain causes short term memory loss. Peoeple who drink alcohol too much tend to have this disorder more.

They are generally introverted and tend to be unhappy. Although they are successful at a lot of things like money, career, spouse…

A search about how intelligent people tend to be unhappy, enlightened me a lot. They say;

Children develop along four streams: intellectual, physical, emotional (psychological) and social. In classrooms, the smartest kids tend to be left out of more activities by other children than they are included in. They are “odd,” they are the geeks, they are social outsiders. In other words, they do not develop socially as well as they may develop intellectually or even physically where opportunities may exist for more progress.

Their emotional development, characterized by their ability to cope with risky or stressful situations, especially over long periods of time, also lags behind that of the average person.

Adults tend to believe that intelligent kids can deal with anything because they are intellectually superior. This inevitably includes situations where the intelligent kids have neither knowledge nor skills to support their experience. They go through the tough times alone. Adults don’t understand that they need help and other kids don’t want to associate with kids the social leaders say are outsiders.

It seems very logical to me. And this can explain why those friends of mine are so unhappy. So what about you, Are you unhappy and intelligent?

6. Oxytocins released during orgasm help to maintain a healthy weight and stabilizes blood pressure and helps to have a better sleep, this might be the reason why he starts snoring the next moment, though he is very active while having sex.

7. Scientific tests find that when women make love, they produce double amounts of the hormone estrogen, which make hair shiny and skin smooth.

8. Gentle, relaxed lovemaking reduces your chances of suffering dermatitis, skin rashes and blemishes. The sweat produced cleanses the pores and makes your skin glow.

9. Lovemaking can burn up those calories you piled on during that romantic dinner.

Happiness is the ultimate and the most important goal for us to reach in this world. And Its meaning must be very important for us. When we look is up in a dictioanry, we see such an explanation: “state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy”. Well, this is a very correct definition but not enough, because happiness is a subjective word and its meaning may vary from person to person. So I asked what is happiness for people over there.

Here are some answers from the web:

I define happiness as … being at peace with oneself and the world. It happens when your mind (intent), body (action)and spirit(conscience) vibrate in unison. A rare occurrence when you leave it to chance but can happen all the time if you consciously seek it.

Happiness to me is seeing the smiles on my children’s faces and knowing that I am the one who put them there.

I define happiness as being able to do something for someone and not expect something in return.

I define happiness as the feeling of what the continual effort in bettering myself gives.

I define happiness as … sitting quietly on my front porch, watching a rainstorm dance by, observing all of nature joyously celebrating it’s abundance.

I define happiness as … a seed that God had planted in our heart, and we have to learn during the whole life to make it grow and flourish in a splendid flower, by learning to love each other

I define happiness as … standing in the rain and really feeling every single rain drop that touches you, and knowing that each drop is a not a tear from God above but a drop of his everlasting love falling sown on us.

I define happiness as … that reassuring sound of the other guy’s fax machine kicking in. “It’s going through…it’s really going through!”

I define happiness as … The smile on my son’s face when he wakes up and the sun is shining after 4 days of rain, and he says ‘mom, I can do my running today!’

I define happiness as being able to sit in the hammock on a spring evening and know I am valuable–even after having two story submissions rejected by editors, one book proposal rejected and hearing my cousin just got a book deal with a major publisher. The crickets and bullfrogs harmonize in the nearby pond and instead of thinking how far I have to go, I relish the successes I have on the smaller scale and know I can continue to pursue the mountains.
I define happiness as … comfortable shoes.
I define happiness as … not having your name show up in the obit. column.
I define happiness as … the smile you see when you give away the ‘biggest’ shark’s tooth you just found!
I define happiness as … knowing who you are and being at peace with yourself

As we see, happiness means very different things for each people. Bu there s something in common in all of these meanings. The main resource for happiness is ourselves. It is in our hands. We choose to be happy or not to be happy. So the problem is to define what is happiness for us. Then being happy becomes easier.

So what is happines for you?

I am ver experienced person in this matter. I have succeeded to get rid of that errible pain resourced from love everytime. But I have never thought or realized how i could do this. One thing i remember is that it was very painful. While surfing the net, I have found artices about how to deal with unrequited love. I wish i had known these before. Here are some tips i found: Accept the fact that he doesn’t feel the same way about you. If you continue to believe that there is a chance he will eventually love you, you will never move on. Understand the reasons why she doesn’t feel the same way. Understanding the reasons for the unrequited love will help you to move past the situation and get over her. Stay positive. Don’t let this situation cause you to have bitter feelings toward finding someone who loves you. It will lead you toward becoming a bitter and unhappy person.

Here are some tips i found:

Accept the fact that he doesn’t feel the same way about you.

Get your mind off of him. Spend more time with friends and family, and surround yourself with those who love and care about you.

Keep busy. Throw yourself into your work or hobbies. If you don’t have any hobbies there are plenty to choose from so it won’t be difficult finding one.

Focus on your future. Nobody has ever moved forward by constantly looking back. Focusing on your future will make you take your focus off her.

Remind yourself of your good qualities. Just because one person does not love you does not mean you are not a good person. Remind yourself of that as often as necessary.

Go out on dates. It may be difficult at first because your heart may still belong to him but the worst that could happen is that you meet someone you like to hang out with. You never know, you may meet someone you really like that feels the same way about you.

Appreciate yourself. Realize that you don’t need anyone to validate you and that you are still the wonderful person you were before the breakup. Remind yourself that most relationships don’t work out and that your breakup isn’t unusual. Work on gaining independence so that you can be just as happy alone as when you’re in a relationship. That will make you more attractive.

If you’ve been left before, think of how you overcame that pain. You did it once, you can do it again.

Don’t feed the monster. After a week or two of grief, stop yourself from indulging conversations about your lost love or from obtaining information about them. In time, your grief will fade on its own, provided you let it.

Ask yourself, “Why would I want to be with anyone who doesn’t love me back?” You deserve better. You may discover you are repeating a pathology from your childhood, clinging to someone who doesn’t appreciate you in an effort to win the approval you could not get from your parents. Seek professional help to dig deeper if you suspect this is true.

Most of those are the words that i was acquinted with. My friends usually says those kind of things to me when i am depressed. But generally they don’t work for me. But personally, knowing one thing helped me much; it will end.

Before applyying those things above, you should know that the pain you feel is temporary. The others are details.

You must have heard of this word a lot of times before. Most probably, you know the meaning too but you may not know what it scientifically means, if you have it or not, or ways to fight. Well, as you guessed, depression is a situation of bad mood. It is a very common mental disorder and it affects the way you eat, think, laught, cry…

Although, I recommend you to go to your psycholog when you feel that you are in depression, there are things to do relief it. But first you have to know about symtoms of depression. You have to know if you are really in depression or not.

The symptoms of depression

* You feel miserable and sad.
* You feel exhausted a lot of the time with no energy .
* You feel as if even the smallest tasks are sometimes impossible.
* You seldom enjoy the things that you used to enjoy-you may be off sex or food or may ‘comfort eat’ to excess.
* You feel very anxious sometimes.
* You don’t want to see people or are scared to be left alone. Social activity may feel hard or impossible.
* You find it difficult to think clearly.
* You feel like a failure and/or feel guilty a lot of the time.
* You feel a burden to others.
* You sometimes feel that life isn’t worth living.
* You can see no future. There is a loss of hope. You feel all you’ve ever done is make mistakes and that’s all that you ever will do.
* You feel irritable or angry more than usual.
* You feel you have no confidence.
* You spend a lot of time thinking about what has gone wrong, what will go wrong or what is wrong about yourself as a person. You may also feel guilty sometimes about being critical of others (or even thinking critically about them).
* You feel that life is unfair.
* You have difficulty sleeping or wake up very early in the morning and can’t sleep again. You seem to dream all night long and sometimes have disturbing dreams.
* You feel that life has/is ‘passing you by.’
* You may have physical aches and pains which appear to have no physical cause, such as back pain.

How to deal with depression

Now, you know if you are in depression. Suppose that you are in depression, then i recommend these which usually works for me:

1. If you are at home, open the windows and take a deep breath how ever it is cold.

2. Go out and take a walk and take some phsycal excercise if possible, because we know that the best way to relax the brain is to make the body tired.

3. If you are with your friends, do not hesitate to show your anger, fear, etc… Tell only what you feel, because doind the reverse may increase your depression mood.

4. Be careful about your foods. Eat natural and fresh meals and don’t neglect the time of your meals.

5. Write a diary, write your thoughts. Write everything that makes you happy or sad.

6. This is the last, also first thing to do; go to a terapist.

Finally, the most important thing is to know this is a disorder and generally can be healed. So being in depression is not the end of life. If you know it will end and you will relax, this can help you feel better.
